Elmore County Local Opens Gelato Wholesale Business

The Elmore County Economic Development Authority (ECEDA) has announced the opening of a new industry in Wetumpka, AL.  S & C, LLC to operate as Venice Gelato will produce and distribute Gelato Ice Cream. The Gelato name is known internationally for its healthy alternative to traditional ice cream products.

Cedric Seamon, the company’s owner and manager met with the City of Wetumpka’s Industrial Development Board on Friday where the board approved sales and use tax and property tax abatements as recommended by ECEDA and the Alabama State Department of Revenue. 

Venice Gelato expects to be in service on April 15th, 2009. The company will be located at 5675 US Hwy 231, Wetumpka, AL. Mr. Seamon projects the addition of at least six employees after the first 3 years.

Eric Basinger, Executive Director of ECEDA, commented at the Industrial Development Board meeting, “With Mr. Seamon’s enthusiasm and a great product, Venice Gelato will be a great addition for the City of Wetumpka and Elmore County”. Leisa Finley, Project Manager for ECEDA, has worked with the Department of Revenue’s Tax Abatement and Incentive Division to assist in the start-up of the project.

Sam Turner, Chairman of the Wetumpka Industrial Board commented that “this is an example of the importance that this community places on assisting its home-grown businesses so that they can grow and compete in the marketplace.”
